  GUIDE FOR AUTHORS
  Aims
The aim of the Chinese Journal of Otology is to provide a platform for papers concerned with clinical and basic science issues regarding the auditory and vestibular systems.
  Types of paper
Contributions falling into the following categories will be considered for publication: clinical research, research, reviews, case report, continuing education, new technologies, creation and application of new devices, book reviews, academic discussions and trends related to otology. Please ensure that you select the appropriate article type from the list when making your submission.
  Before You Begin
  Ethics in Publishing
We require every research article submitted to include a statement that the study obtained ethics approval (or a statement that it was not required and why), including the name of the ethics committee(s) or institutional review board(s), the number/ID of the approval(s), and a statement that participants were given informed consent before taking part.
Conflict of interest

All authors are required to disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest including any financial, personal or other relationships with other people or organizations within three years of beginning the submitted work that could inappropriately influence, or be perceived to influence, their work.
  Patient consent and confidentiality
Any article that contains personal medical information about an identifiable living individual is required to include the patient’s explicit consent before we can publish it. We will ask the author to sign the consent form with the patient, which requires the patient to have read the manuscript.
  Submission declaration
Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere including electronically in the same form, in English or in any other language, without the written consent of the copyright-holder.
  Copyright
Acceptance of an article for publication implies transfer of copy right of the article to the publisher. This will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information. Authors are required to declare if other arrangement of copy right ownership is being considered.
Permission by the publisher is required for resale or distribution outside the institution. If excerpts from other copyrighted works are included, the author(s) are responsible for obtaining written permission from the copyright owners and credit the source(s) in the article.
  Funding
You are requested to identify who provided financial support for the conduct of the research and/or preparation of the article and to briefly describe the role of the sponsor(s), if any, in study design; in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data; in the writing of the report; and in the decision to submit the paper for publication. If the funding source(s) had no such involvement then this should be stated.
  Repetition Rate
At the request of international database, the article repetition rate shall not be higher than 20%.
  Submission
Submission to this journal proceeds totally online. Use the following guidelines to prepare your article. Via the homepage of this journal (http://www.ent301.com/Journalx_zhekx/authorLogOn.action) you will be guided stepwise through the creation and uploading of the various files. The system automatically converts source files to a single Adobe Acrobat PDF version of the article, which is used in the peer-review process. Please note that even though manuscript source files are converted to PDF at submission for the review process, these source files are needed for further processing after acceptance. All correspondence, including notification of the Editor’s decision and requests for revision, takes place by e-mail and via the author’s homepage, removing the need for a hard-copy paper trail. If you are unable to provide an electronic version, please contact the editorial office prior to submission [e-mail: zhek301@vip.sina.com; telephone: +86-010-68286148].
Formatting Guideline

  Title.
Concise and informative. Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible.
  Authors information
Where the family name may be ambiguous (e.g., a double name), please indicate this clearly. Please present the authors’ affiliation addresses (where the actual work was done) below the names. Please provide the full postal address of each affiliation, and if available, the e-mail address of each author.
Clearly indicate who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, also post-publication. Ensure that telephone number is provided in addition to the e-mail address and the complete postal address. Contact details must be kept up to date by the corresponding author.
  Abstract
A concise and factual Chinese and English abstract is required. The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results and major conclusions. An abstract is often presented separately from the article, so it must be able to stand alone. For this reason, References should be avoided. Also, non-standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided, but if essential full name must be written at their first mention in the abstract itself. The content of the English abstract should be consistent with that of the Chinese abstract.
  Keywords
Authors are invited to submit 2~5 Chinese and English keywords associated with their paper. These keywords should be listed in the manuscript after Abstract, separated by semicolons.
  Introduction
State the objectives of the work and provide an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results.
  1. The introduction should contain the following information:
  (1) Research rationales, purpose and background; (2) theoretical basis, experimental basis and research methods;(3) expected results and their roles and significance, with highlights on the innovative aspects of the research in question.
  2. Writing requirements of the introduction: It is suggested that authors write in the logical order of "research significance, previous research progress and key problems to be solved in this paper".
  Material and methods
Provide sufficient detail to allow the finding to be reproduced. Methods already published should be indicated by a reference: only relevant modifications should be described. The statistical methods employed in this research should be described in this section.
  Results
Results should be clear and concise. All relevant positive and negative results should be described in this section.
  Discussion
The discussion should explore the implications of the findings, rather than repeating the findings of others. It should be concise and tightly argued. It is also appropriate to combine the results with the discussion. Avoid extensive citations and discussion of published literature.
  Conclusion
The main conclusions of the study may be presented in a short Conclusions section, which may stand alone or form a subsection of a Discussion or Results and Discussion section.
  Acknowledgements
Collate acknowledgements in a separate section at the end of the article before the references and do not, therefore, include them on the title page, as a footnote to the title or otherwise. List here those individuals who provided help during the research (e.g., providing language help, writing assistance or proof reading the article, etc.).
  References
List references by order of occurrence in the article, Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa); Unpublished results are not recommended in the reference list; All documents are listed in English, and Chinese literature should be listed in English; When the author of the literature does not exceed 3 people, all of them are listed. When there are more than 3 people, the first 3 people are listed, followed by "等" or "et al".

Subdivision numbered sections

Divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections, For examples: 1;1.1;1.1.1…, and arrange these sections consecutively.; Any subsection may be given a brief heading. Each heading should appear on its own separate line, Chapter titles should be clear and accurate.
  Figure
Ensure that each illustration has a caption. Supply captions separately, not attached to the figure. A caption should comprise a brief title and a description of the illustration. Keep text in the illustrations themselves to a minimum but explain all symbols and abbreviations used.
  Tables
All forms should be described in the text and numbered consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text. Please use three-line table, place title notes to tables above the table body and indicate them in Chinese and English.
Abbreviations

If a long technical term appears multiple times in the text, in order to make it easier for the readers, please write the full name when the term first appears, and list the abbreviation in the parentheses immediately after it. Use abbreviations when it appears again in the text, and ensure the consistency of abbreviations throughout the article.
  Units
Follow internationally accepted rules and conventions: use the international system of units (SI). If other quantities are mentioned, give their equivalent in SI.
  Math formulae
Present simple formulae in the line of normal text where possible and use the solidus (/) instead of a horizontal line for small fractional terms, e.g., X/Y. In principle, variables are to be presented in italics.
